Reproduction: The reproductive maturity is occurred at 19-23 months of age.
However, maturity may attain at early or late depending on the physiological
and nutritional status of the animal. The rut begins throughout the year with
peaks between March-April and August-October. One to two fawns are born
after 180 days of gestation. Young are usually concealed in bushes.
Behaviour: They are found in herds consisting of 20-30 animals and the herd may consist of mixed animals, breeding herds and buck. The animals may graze till mid day and again in the late afternoon. The irregular deposition of droppings in common heap is an important behaviour of black buck. It is said that blackbucks persist for days and even weeks without drinking.
Life span: Blackbuck lives for about 15 years.
