Commercially prepared duck or game bird pellets may be offeredto most waterfowl. The ingredients used in various combinations for waterfowl diets are as follows: grass, grain, seed, biscuit, cabbage,apple, fish, seafood, sprouted wheat, shrimp and crushed grit. A pintail or teal may be
offered 100 g millet and 15 g green vegetables per day. The following ingredients may be given to a captive goose per day: millet (150 g), wheat flour bread (50 g), and onion and garlic (25 g).
Protein requirement for young (6-8 weeks) duck is estimated at about 17 per cent. An average water
fowl may be given grain 130 g per bird per day and biscuit 10 g per bird per day. Captive birds are
usually received two meals a day. The frequency of feeding should be more for plant eater water fowl.
