Zoological name: The zoological name of hoolock gibbon is Bunopithecus hoolock.
Distribution: This ape is found in Bangladesh, Myanmar and north eastern parts of India.
Habitat: Hoolock gibbon, the only ape found in India, is confined to the rain forests of north eastern parts.
Physical feature: The body weight of this medium sized animal varies from 6-8 kg. The male is black with white brows, while the female is buff or golden colour with occasionally black patches. The young male and female are black with a silvery white band above the eyebrow. The other characteristics include rounded head and long arms twice the length of hind legs.
