The jackals eat small animals (e.g. rabbits, mice and lizards), insects, plant
materials and carrion in natural state. They are opportunistic feeders. Rodents
and fruits are the main dietary ingredients for the silver-backed jackals. The captive

Housing: Jackal may be kept in an indoor quarter with open shelter. Animals are well accommodated in cold environment. However, there should be a provision for heated quarter during cold er months.
