Reproduction: The puberty is reached when they are about two years of age. The small Indian mongoose may, however, breed when it attains nine months old. They may breed at almost any time of the year or in a particular season. The litter size usually ranges from two to six offspring. The gestation period is normally two months.
Behaviour: Most species are solitary, though some live in pairs or in small groups. Mongoose may be nocturnal or diurnal. They are reputed for stealing eggs and killing snakes.
Life span: The life span may be four to ten years in the wild.
