Reproduction: The Indian pythons able to breed at about five years of age. Mating
occurs in the months of December, January and February. However, in north
they are reported to lay eggs in March-June. The size of clutch varies from 8 to
100 soft and white eggs. The female broods the eggs by coiling around them. The
incubation period is reported to be two months. The mother takes no interest in
her brood after hatching.
Behaviour: These non poisonous snakes are lethargic and slow moving. It has a peculiar method of movement i.e. the body moves in a straight line like a millipede.
