Reproduction: The females mature at about two months of age. The common
quails breed from March to July in India. The nest is built in the form of a scrape
lined with or without grass and leaves on the ground. The clutch size is usually 6
to 8 eggs. The eggs are yellowish, buff to deep yellowish brown or reddish brown
speckled and blotched with some shades of dark or chestnut brown. Young hatch
after a period of 21 days incubation. The young are usually able to fly at seven

Life span: The common quail is reported to live up to five years.
