Reproduction: Reproductive maturity occurs at one and a half to two years of
old. The litter size ranges from one to four young (usually two). The gestation
period is 90-150 days. The long gestation period may be due to delayed
implantation. The young weighing about 105-131 g are blind, helpless and fully
furred. It is readily adapted to the captivity, though breeding is not easily taken
Behaviour: The red panda is very curious and gentle. It is fairly nocturnal and may live alone, in pairs or in family groups. In the wild, they are reported to be most active at dawn, dusk and at night. The ideal social grouping is mated pair and the dependent offspring. They probably make territories. Faeces is deposited in well defined latrine areas.
Life span: The red panda can live up to 14 years in the wild.
