Sphinx in a Dream
The Egyptian sphinx had the body of a lion and the head of a pharaoh. It was a symbol of regal power. In Greek mythology, the sphinx was a mythical creature with a human head (usually female), a bull's body, the wings of an eagle, and the feet of a lion. It had a human's voice. The sphinx is extremely wise and symbolizes the riddle of the universe. In fact, the sphinx was an expert on riddles, and enjoyed asking riddles to people who came to the Greek city of Thebes. If they could not answer, she would eat them. The sphinx killed herself after Oedipus solved the riddle he was asked: "What goes on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three legs in the evening?" The answer is "man." If you dream of a sphinx, it's a sign that you need to ask an important question. Although you probably already know the answer, it's important that you ask the question.
