Reproduction: The female matures at the age of two and a half year. They tend
to mate seasonally and the foaling usually takes place in the night after a pregnancy
period of 11-12 months. The captive female may give birth to a foal at an interval
of 12-15 months.
Behaviour: They are exceptionally social animals living in small to large groups. Zebras form a herd during rainy season. The herd, however, breaks off in the dry season. Zebras are normally nocturnal feeders. The males are very hostile to each other. Zebras have the habits of biting and kicking.
Life span: The life span is recorded up to 35 years.
